Watford Health Centre was formed in April 2020 following the merger of Cassio Surgery and Upton Road Surgery. We are based in central Watford and are part of the Watford Central Primary Care Network.
We have an excellent and highly skilled team
7 GP Partners, 5 Salaried GPs, 3 Prescribing Pharmacists, 2 Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants, 1 Drug and Alcohol Support Worker, 1 Vulnerable Elderly Patient Care Coordinator, 1 Social Prescriber and a First Contact Physiotherapist.

Meet the team
Dr Sunitha Ramesh
GP PartnerDr Ramesh has been a GP for 20 years and joined the practice in 2013. She graduated in 1988 and trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before becoming a GP. Her special interests are women's health and she does joint and soft tissue injections for various musculoskeletal conditions. Married with 2 grown up children, she loves to cook and travel.

Dr Medona Visavadia
GP PartnerDr Visavadia was a GP Partner at Cassio Surgery before the merger with Upton Road Surgery to become Watford Health Centre. She is our Child Safeguarding Lead and also has a strong interest in Diabetes. She leads the Covid vaccination programme jointly with Dr Khalo.
Dr Taz Virdee
GP PartnerDr Virdee was a GP Partner at Cassio Surgery before the merger with Upton Road Surgery to become Watford Health Centre. She has an interest in Women's Health & is a coil and implant fitter. She is a GP Appraiser and has a passion for teaching and training & practice development.
Dr Daljit Khalo
GP PartnerDr Khalo joined the practice as a partner in 2019. He graduated from University College London Medical School (UCL) in 2008 with distinction and completed GP training in 2014 in Romford. He is the Clinical Director for Central Watford Primary Care Network and works closely with other surgeries and services to improve the care of our patients. Outside of work – he is a keen interest in football and is a season ticket holder and enjoys playing and watching cricket.

Arti Shah
PharmacistArti is a clinical pharmacist and is able to prescribe medication as needed. Currently she oversees patients who need blood pressure control, asthma and Copd reviews and also support us with medication safety alerts, medication synchronisation and blister pack set ups and general support for patients who have medication queries. She can advise patients on dosage and suggest the most appropriate form of medications as well and liaises closely with the GPs

Saumya (Sam) Srivastava
First Contact PhysioExperienced physiotherapist with a demonstrated history of working in the national and private health care industry (more than 10 year of work experience). She is skilled in Manual Therapy, Healthcare, Primary Care, Musculoskeletal System, and Holistically Approached Rehabilitation Strategies. Strong consulting professional with a Master's degree focused in Pain Science and Society from King's College. She also has experience with geriatrics, palliative care and cerebral palsy children. As a first contact practitioner she will speak to you for an initial thorough consult and be able to offer one further session if needed. She can liase with GP's with regards to medication and xrays where needed. Since starting at WHC, Saumya has been instrumental in improving services for our patients who have MSK issues by seeing and managing them promptly often with no need for on onward referral. Where the issue cannot be managed by Saumya she is able to promptly refer and liase with the community MSK services where necessary. She is currently leading on a project with the service to improve patient experience and care.
Indra Gopalakrishnan
Elderly Patient Care CoordinatorsIndra is our dedicated practice based Elderly patient care coordinator and provides a unique service to Watford Health Centre. Working closely with the GPs and the rest of our expanding multidisciplinary team she coordinates patients care rapidly to the most appropriate health professional or team. She is often the first point of contact for those that are frail, living alone or housebound and for their carers and provides a much needed link. She has close links to community services including district nurses, OT and physio as well as mental health, social care and provides post hospital discharge support. Providing a much needed continuity of care for elderly patients and their carers, she helps keep our growing elderly population as independent as possible, supporting them when things get too much, whilst helping with more rapid access to services to meet their needs. She may also be able to support those under 75 that may be deemed vulnerable by the team.
Alykham Mohamed
PharmacistAlykhan is the newest member of our pharmacist team but has a wealth of knowledge and experience from community pharmacy. He supports the care coordinators in reviewing patients over 65 who are discharged from hospital ensuring there is a streamlined safe approach to any medication changes. Alykhan is instrumental in supporting the wider pharmacy team and GP's and is now doing structured medication reviews and synchronisation and setting up of blister packs for patients who may need this.
Meena Sharma
Lead PharmacistMeena is our senior pharmacist and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in complex medication reviews and pain management. Her main focus area is Diabetes and she works with the specialists teams as well as Dr Visavadia, Diabetic Lead focusing on those with poor diabetic control. We are pleased to say she has recently been accepted on the the Clinical Champion Lead Programme, Diabetes UK and will be working on a national project to improve the care of patients with Diabetes.

I initially contacted NHS111 who responded very quickly, within an hour I received a phone call from the practice to say a doctor would be in touch. I came to the surgery on 18th March 21 for my blood test and Diabetes review. I was met by a nurse called Aruljothi. I found her very pleasant, polite and professional. She made me feel at ease and answered all my questions. I would like my comments to be passed on to her Line Manager. The lady at reception was very helpful and pleasant too.March 2021

Great service. Notification that you had ordered a flu injection for me without having to ask for it. On the day, socially distanced waiting area, under cover, with staff directing people to doctor’s consulting rooms. Production line process. In and out, in under 10 minutes.
